Addiction of tobacco and alcohol is common root cause in family problems. Apart from de-addiction camps and drives, SVMM also addresses the family problems through counselling and legal aid wherever necessity.
Vocational Training
There are 30 self-help groups are working in the self-help sector. Various programs being conducted by SHG’s to bring women into the mainstream, such as saving habits, job trainings, awareness discussions on social and cultural issues, starting employment initiatives and so on.
Covid-19 Help Desk
With the advent of covid-19 pandemic across the world, the year 2020 has been very challenging time for all of us. The pandemic has affected common people to untold suffering. The tribal population of the Wayanad experienced great difficulties due to loss of livelihood, absence of wages and poor access to hospitals and other emergency services. Absence of public transport added to their woes.
SVMM took up the responsibility of providing urgent help not only to the Vanavasi community but also local community. The mission also provided uninterrupted services during this time by starting 27 Centres at Panchayat level as Covid-19 Help Desks. Active volunteers were extending all possible support to the Tribals residing in remotest part of hilly terrain of Wayanad.
